About
Hi! My name is Marek Bronstring and I’m a game designer at NCsoft Europe’s new development studio in Brighton, UK. In the past I worked at Woedend! in Amsterdam, was a games consultant now and then, and a freelance game journalist before that.
In 2004 I co-founded Idle Thumbs, an independent gaming site. In 2006 it effectively died when everyone on staff got awesome game industry jobs, but it was great while it lasted. Sometimes I feel like Idle Thumbs was ahead of its time with some of the things it did, and that ten years from now when another site does it we’ll be able to point at it and go ‘pfft, noobs’. But maybe we were all just drunk.
Back in 1998 I also founded Adventure Gamers, the leading website about point-and-click adventure games. I continue to be involved on the business side while the site is under the editorship of Jack Allin.
After writing about games or creating websites about them for a long time, I decided I wanted to design games. I followed a bachelor course in Digital Media Design and got a Masters degree in game design. I worked on a lot of advergames and serious games, as well as two browsed-based MMOs, at a Dutch company called Woedend!. Currently I’m part of a new team at NCsoft working on a super exciting unannounced project.
