Wehkamp is a home shopping catalog in the Netherlands. It’s a great thing for whenever you need new jogging pants, curl presses, bras, etc. but are afraid to leave your house.
They send their catalogs unsolicited so I usually throw them away, but this time I opened it on the first page and saw something beautiful. No, not the washing machine (though it is awesome). What caught my eye was the double-screened video games playing device.
What’s nice is that this isn’t a pre-cooked Nintendo advertorial. These are shopping recommendations selected from the catalog by a women’s magazine. Another reminder that “expanding the market” isn’t just some PR spiel.
I totally love it.
Why do you love it?
To Wehkamp it’s just another accessory, just another hip little gadget, just another iPod.

It may be protrayed a little superficially but it’s neat to see it exhibited in a different place than just gaming or electronics magazines.

Qrter: That’s precisely why I love it. Wehkamp doesn’t have to explain why they have a gaming device amongst those products, they’re just saying ‘hey, here’s a thing you should probably own’.
Isn’t that indicative of a greater mainstream acceptance of gaming?

I agree; it’s a special moment I think. Nintendo’s efforts (and software library) have apparently paid off. Nice find.
Now, about those bra’s you recommended me…

I find it shocking that your eyes immediately drifted to the DS and not the pretty lady sitting on top of the Washing machine!
But I can’t agree more: another sign of mainstream acceptance of the DS. Go ninty!

I actually did see the woman before everything else. For a second I even thought she was sitting on a Xerox machine.
